Upcoming Designers Style the Olympic Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony of London 2012 Olympic games went off in STYLE on Friday Night! It brought together representatives from all of London’s creative industries including fashion. Upcoming brands of East London, Christopher Shannon, Michael Van Der Ham and Nasir Mazhar dressed 350 of the 1,200 entertainers who danced away to the compilation of famous British hits.
Surrirat Larlab, creative director of the Opening Ceremony who worked in tandem with Danny Boyle explains “We wanted to choose young designers who work and live in the East End for the opening ceremony and who create innovative and cutting edge new ideas. It has been an incredible experience working with this fresh new talent, all of whom have dedicated themselves heart and soul to this project.”
Cheryl Cole has released her new video for the song “Under The Sun,” It has been directed by Anthony Mandler, who also directed the video for Cheryl‘s song “Call My Name.”
The video features a contemporary take on sixties fashion statements, the most striking of which is a yellow bra peeking out from her bolero (a short tailored jacket). The bolero-bra combination is paired with a coral-coloured pencil skirt… and the whole effect is one that reveals a saucy bit more than you’d expect for a 1960s ensemble.

I have been eagerly awaiting this range to be released, after the success of last years collection I’m not surprised by the expansion of styles and the final designs. This year the prints are bold, beautiful and very iconic.
The range which now includes Air Max 1, Cortez and the Free 5.0 shoes will be available early April and the Hyperclave, Dunk Sky High and Blazer hit stores in May!
Liberty even have a countdown for the new launch which you can view here
The term diva is a celebrated female singer to use the term for outstanding talent. Whilst basking by the pool this summer, look and feel gorgeous in these quintessential peices that seperate you from the typical holiday maker. These items are simple, chic and make you look devine.
Valentino’s Spring/summer ‘12 ad campaign is a beautiful mix of decadence and romance. Shot in the mexican town of Pezos, the models roam about, almost blending in with their surroundings.
But it’s not just the clever location that makes this campaign work. Heads of Valentino Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli have re-worked traditional lace, creating a bigger patterned lace that flatters the body, and attracts the eye. In earthy shades of cream and brown, the models not only fit in with their surroundings, but wear a modern re-work of what was a traditional fabric in mexico, greece and italy.
I believe so, I believe it will have many benefits especially for customers that don’t live near a store or find the experience of shopping in store a nightmare (like so many of us).
Primark will have a variety of product sectors to show online which may be a downfall and make it harder to find a desired product. They will also need to sell high numbers of each product in order to make the online site a success.
Primark already claim to be the second largest retailer in the UK so maybe the future of Primark will be online, I for one will be a loyal customer and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the rumour is true.
What are your thoughts? Would you shop online for Primark?
To claim that Felicity Porter—she of Felicity—had good style would be like saying her love life was super straightforward. But she did pull off a certain look, combing those Palo Alto roots with her University of New York surroundings in a way that worked with her wispy frame and big ol’…
This once considered “old fashioned” and “granny-ish” decorative style has been beautifully reformed ready for our spring/summer wardrobes.
Prada uses bold statement colour over a muted pastel base to draw attention to detail, and D&G combine this technique with bold prints to keep the eye moving. If your not one to be the centre of attention, D&G also show how pastel colours look just as stunning, using complimentary colours for applique contrasted over a lace structure.
As perfect as each of these “must-have” pieces are, not all of us can afford the price tag. So, if you have the patience, choose a dress or skirt in one block colour, and source ready-made applique shapes, such as flowers or fruit in either a complimentary or bold shade. (Personally i’d opt for a tone lighter than my base fabric) Then your all set to sew away!
